Two fishy stories

Around 2 weeks ago I went out in my boat to set my crab traps.  The chaps who had his boat next to mine was  getting ready to have it moored in the river that evening. See opposite photo.

I mentioned to this chap , called Ian , that boats can easily sink in the river as there is a 10 foot tidal range. He seemed to think he would be OK.

The next morning I went out with Ben to pull my crab traps , as mentioned on a previous blog. I happened to glance out at the other boats as we were about to head out to sea. I noticed that Ian's boat looked  a little low in the water. We went over  to investigate and the boat was half full of water. So I got the 2 gallon bucket  and bailed it out. This took about 30 minutes.
Then I phoned the club and the cleaner answered . She said she would get someone to contact the owner. When Ben and I returned two chaps from the club , neither one  the owner , were in the boat. I went over and they asked me to tow the boat to the ramp. This I did. I then got my boat on its trailer and after a lot of trouble the other boat was hauled back into the yard. A few days later I found out that there was one bolt missing in the transom ( back of boat ) , about 3/8th inch dia. The water had poured in this hole. If I had not sounded the alarm the boat would have been on the bottom of the river within an hour or so.

So for the past 2 weeks I have wondered if people say thank you in this boat club. Well I have not had a thank you and the last two days I tried to get Ian's phone number , but no-one in the Club will give it to me. One official thought it strange that I would want the thank you. Not looking for a salvage fee , but legally am probably due one. This same official though it more odd that someone might even go to a bit of trouble to get my name and phone number to say thank you.

One a more happy note , I caught my first mackerel of the season today. Also my boat engine gear box is fixed and working very well.

Next Sunday I am off to the Island of Arran , with my family , all eight of us , for a whole week.

Prayer for Israel Conference and Bromley Baptist Church

150th Birthday  afternoon tea , Bromley Baptist church
On Saturday I had a very good response to my 5 minute introductory talk, thank your Derek Rous for this blessing.

At lunch and afternoon tea I was swamped with good people , Wilfred Wong was there to help me. We got 25 people sign up for my prayer letter and 14 agreed to distribute our Pro Life times news paper in their churches.

On Sunday I attended Bromley Baptist church and felt very comfortable there. Met the senior pastor , Simon Jones after the service and had a nice chat with him. Also ran into Stephen Davis who runs their men's group. He had me speak at this event a year of two ago. In the afternoon there was a very nice afternoon tea put on for the Church's 150th anniversary , which I attended. Met quite a few people at this very nice light meal , see opposite.

New York to London via Prestwick

On Thursday I arrived home from the UN. The meeting I was at went reasonably well , four pro-life groups got accredited to the UN , but  two homosexual NGOs also got approved  not by the normal consensus but  by a vote of 9 to 6. Many disreputable NGO did not get accredited.

Two pro-life groups , C-Fam and Human Life International did not get through but should be OK next year.

Friday afternoon and Saturday morning I was out in my little boat. Ben , my great - nephew came out with me yesterday  and we hauled in 6 nice crabs.

Next Thursday I head down to London as I shall be manning a literature table at the Prayer for Israel meeting. Head back home that Sunday , 6th June.
