Summary of Australia trip

Today I am in Sydney seeing my grandson Jack for the first time, he is so like my son.

The Lord has blest my time here in Aus. I got to preach in two churches in Brisbane , two in Hobart , and one in Bendigo. Lectured in a Bible college in Queensland , did three pro-life talks in Hobart and one in Burnie.

The high point of my pro-life work here was training five  people in Hobart to do the SPUC schools presentation on abortion.

The fishing has been amazing. Later today my son Adam is taking me fishing on Narambeen Lakes.

God has been good to me.

Many thanks to all my prayer supports.

I am trying to teach Keith to hold the catch closer to the camera so they look bigger !!!

Tomorrow we head off to Hobart , then I fly to Melbourne.

On Sunday I am due to preach in Kangaroo Flats b
Baptist Church in Bendigo , Victoria.

Had a good responses from the people at Sandy Bay Baptist Church in Hobart, where I preached  last Sunday.

This Friday I fly to Melbourne to visit my cousins. Plan to preach in Bendigo that Sunday.

Next day I plan to fly to Sydney to see my new grandson.

absent , Penelle Kinghorn.
Yesterday I did my third pro-life talk in Hobart , around 15 people attended.

Excellent hospitality by Noel and Betty Roberts in their supply of a room in their house for the day , a laptop , lovely lunch and a beautiful ambience.

Much positive benifit should come from this days work.

Tonight I am back on Bruny Island and hoping to get some fishing in tomorrow.

Tasmanian pro-life group

HLPS stallwards

Today I spoke to members of the human Life protection Society , this is the pro-life group I worked with 20 years ago.

The fishing was good

A nice 4 lb salmon
Tomorrow , Monday , I shall be speaking to people in the Human Life Protection Society . This is the Tasmania pro-life group that I was involved with in the early 1990s. I shall be showing them the new SPUC  pro-life schools presentation.

As you can see from the photos opposite the fishing on Bruny Island has been going very well. It was most satisfying to catch a 5 pound crayfish , just like I used to 34 years ago.

The salmon was caught in a 50 yd net, which is much easier than using a rod and fly.

Early next week  we will be busy catching fish for a men's dinner on Wednesday evening
A nice 5 lb cray

How to feed the poor

Bruce French - Food Plants International
Last night there were eight people at my talk on the UN.

Today I went sight seeing, then met Bruce French.
This amazing man who lives in Burnie has since the mid 1960s been making a database of the edible plants of the world. He lists their nutritional value and how best to cook them as well as how to grow them.

Bruce believes, as I do, that there is more than enough potential to feed everyone well in the world. To date he has catalogued around 25,000 edible plants. He can show many countries which local plants can be eaten along with the nutritional value.

A good half days fishing

My brother Keith in his boat

Yesterday my brother Keith and I went fishing on Little Taylors Bay, Bruny Island where we both grew up. We went to the little reef and landed four good cod. Then we moved to the Yellow Bluff to try for some flat head but only got a gurnard. Then we motored along past the Quarries and caught some cocky salmon. After this we went back to the big reef and got some flathead. All the little ones got thrown back. We had a great feast that night with three Dutch visitors.

I am now in Burnie, NW Tasmania and will be speaking about my work at the UN tomorrow evening.

The catch: bottom to top - Salmon , Gurnard , Cod , Flathead

Hungarian NGO in New York

Showing poster for recent meeting in Budapest

On Friday I met Mrs. Zsuzsanna Gerber from Hungary. She heads up Hungarian Women’s Alliance , a pro-family / pro-life group over there.

Great Defender of Life Dinner - New York

Left to right,   P.Smith , Judge Buckley , Fr. Kowalsky

Last Thursday I was given a special treat. Fr Kowalsky , the pastor of the new Rectory where I was staying in New York , took me to the Human Life Foundation’s  Great Defender of Life Dinner. The man receiving the award was James L. Buckley. This amazing man has served in three branches of the US government. He was a Federal Senator , representing New York from 1971 to 1977. He then worked in the State Department ( Foreign Office )  under President Regan. Lastly he was appointed a judge to the Court of Appeals for the District of Colombia.

In 1984 President Regan named Mr Buckley to lead the US delegation to the Mexico City conference on population. There he stunned the population control zealots by announcing what is now  called the Mexico City Policy. Any US groups who perform or promote abortion abroad are denied Federal Government funding. Every Republican President since then has re-instituted the Mexico City policy on his first day in office. The Democratic presidents do the reverse. The pro-abortionists call this the Global Gag Rule.

In Mexico City wording was agreed that “ in no case shall abortion be promoted as a method of family planning. “  This great wording still gets into UN documents from time to time. So I was thrilled to meet this wonderful pro-life senator, ambassador and judge and have a photo taken with him.

Well I have been here at the UN for two days already. There is not much action at this time as many countries are just giving their position on certain general issues , like trafficking in persons , etc.

I have been going round saying hello to delegates that I already know, and meeting others.

Shown above are some of the people  I work with.

Trinidad half day off

Guess who caught the largest fish ?
Garry , at the helm , a former OMer took me fishing.
As I had worked last week-end and as I will  be working next week-end ,  I thought a half days fishing would be a good tonic.

I met Garry at the Church I spoke in last Sunday. He used to be with OM and knows George Verwer very well. Garry now has a youth ministry and takes the lads fishing in his 30 foot boat ( 75 HP outboard ) at various times. He very generously offered to take me fishing with some of his family and friends.

This was a wonderful half day out and the Lord answered my prayer for a few nice fish. The one opposite will be served to me tomorrow night and shall meet the consumation of his existence. ( Please forgive my poor English )

Trinidad update

Tuesday I got to do two SPUC pro-life presentations
in a High School in Port Of Spain. In the second class
there were around  300 students from forms 3 to 5.
See photo opposite.

Wednesday I spoke at another High School and the University. About half the University students were for me.

Tonight I get to speak at a Theology College.

I have been having computer problems , now fixed.
